Culture Night 2016
Every September, one of the biggest events in the cultural calendar in Ireland takes place… Culture Night! What started out as a relatively small event in Dublin ten years ago has grown into a significant, nationwide spectacular; an annual, all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. 350,000 people take part, visiting museums, cultural centres, art studios, galleries, historic houses and so much more, all across the country.
If you’re a local, Culture Night gives you the opportunity to discover new things about your home, encouraging you to dip a toe into uncharted waters. If you’re a tourist, well, you couldn’t have arrived at a better time! Culture Night is FREE, with many venues that would normally charge an entry fee taking part. While some events require pre-booking, most of them do not… The city will be your cultural playground!
This year, Culture Night takes place on Friday, September 16th. On this night, arts and cultural organisations, and venues of all kinds, extend their opening hours to allow as many people to visit as possible. As well as the usual exhibitions, unique events and special workshops are programmed just for the occasion, and everything is free of charge.
